Nazarbayev ratified changes to Collective Security Treaty

November 28 Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the laws On ratification of the protocol on amendments to the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization dated October 7, 2002 and On ratification of the protocol on amendments to the Collective Security Treaty dated May 15, 1992, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President's press-service. According to amendments to the Treaty dated May 15, 1992, in case of a threat to security, stability, territorial integrity and sovereignty of one or several member-states or a threat to the international peace and security, all the CSTO member-states will immediately start joint consultations. During such consultations CSTO countries will develop and take measures to render help to the member-states for elimination of the threats. In case of aggression towards any of the Organization's countries, the remaining countries will immediately render required support, including military one. The protocol on amendments to the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization dated October 7, 2002 provides an update of the directions of CSTO activities, modernization of its organizational structure, and defines the order of financing of the Organization's working bodies. Kazakhstan President also signed the law On ratification of the Convention on privileges and immunities of the Secretariat, its personnel and representatives of member-countries of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia .
