The golden cactus Echinocactus grusonii in blue flowerpots is in great demand among the capital's citizens.
Sofya Lissovskaya, a florist, said that this unusual plant grows in Mojave desert and is a national symbol of Mexico. “We have decided to sell Echinocactus in blue flowerpots and were amazed on how well this plant copies the collors of Kazakhstan flag,” the florist said. “In my opinion it is a very patriotic to acquire such a cactus for home. Moreover, your grandchildren could inherit Echinocactus later. Some plants live to the age of 500 in Mexico desert.”
According to Lissovskay, the cost of the golden cactus is 1000-5000 tenge ($7-34) depending on the size of the plant. The cactus needs watering two times a year, in spring and autumn.
