Kazakhstan may join the world’s top five oil exporting nations, Kazakhstan Telecommunications Agency reports referring to Noe van Hulst, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum (IEF). “Oil production in your country will be growing rapidly and could reach 2 million barrels a day by 2016, and potentially 4 million barrels a day by 2035. Kazakhstan will then be able to join the world’s top five oil exporting countries,” Hulst said in an interview for Kazakhstan Prime Minister”s press-service. According to IEF General Secretary, Kazakhstan currently produces 1.5 milllion barrels of oil a day, “this is twice the amount it was producing three years ago.” Hulst also encouraged Kazakhstan to join the International Energy Forum that already has 86 member-states, who signed the IEF charter in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The General Secretary pointed out that these 86 countries account for around 95% of the global oil production and supply.
