According to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) António Guterres, due to its growth Kazakhstan has become a “magnet” for both labor migrants and refugees, reports the Kazakh Foreign Ministry on its website. This was said by Mr. Guterres during the talks with Kazakhstan’s State Secretary Kanat Saudabayev in Geneva. “Kazakhstan has become a magnet both for labor migrants and refugees. We can suggest the trend is set to strengthen”, he said. He also expressed satisfaction with the results of his recent visit to Kazakhstan, notably those of his talks with President Nursultan Nazarbayev. “We are absolutely satisfied with close cooperation with Kazakhstan and the country’s legislation measures taken to streamline dealing with refugees”, he added.
