SCO's 10th Anniversary
Kazakhstan National Bank issued a silver coin on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), National Bank reported. 500-tenge ($3.5) denomination coin weighs 31.1 grams. It is made of sterling silver. The total of four thousand coins were issued. The coin is decorated with Kazakhstan’s emblem on the obverse and SCO emblem on the reverse. The National Bank had also issued Space series coins and Year of the Rabbit coins of Oriental calendar series. The First Astronaut coin’s front image symbolizes the human unity with the Universe, connection of the past and the present. Yuriy Gagarin appears on the reverse side. Year of the Rabbit coins are dodecahedron-shaped. The coin has mythological symbols of star map constellations on the obverse and a rabbit on the reverse. In January 2011 the National Bank issued a golden coin on the occasion of 7th winter Asian Games of 2011.
