Kyzylorda student won Kickboxing World Cup

Kyzylorda resident Zhalgasbay Abshekenov has won Kickboxing World Cup, which took place in Anapa, Russia, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing KazTAG. Zhalgasbay Abshekenov, Bolashak Kyzylorda University student, competed in eighty one kilos weight league and won the Senior Championship in Low-Kick. “The 19-years-old sportsman came up to our expectations. He masterfully won all the battles,” Sadyk Mustafayev, head of Tourism, Physical Education and Sport Department said on October, 1. Low-kick, full-contact, ka-1, light contact, semi-light and light-low championships were included into the World Cup program. About 1000 sportsmen from 28 countries took part at the tournament. Abshekenov went for kickboxing when he was fourteen. He became the Junior Champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan last year. He also won a bronze medal at the World Championship in Belgrade. “This year is successful for the sportsman as well,” Berik Akhmetov, the sportsman's coach, said. According to the coach, Abshekenov became Senior Champion of Kazakhstan and then won the Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan. “Abshekenov will start training for the Senior Kickboxing World Championship after a short rest. The Championship will be held in Makedonia in October this year,” the official from the regional Kickboxing Federation said.
