Nazarbayev: Civil wars in Kyrgyzstan were prevented thanks to cooperation with UN

Civil wars in Kyrgyzstan were prevented thanks to cooperation with the UN, Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the briefing at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Dramatic events stroke Kyrgyzstan last year. We managed to prevent civil war thanks to close cooperation with the United Nations. There are several similar examples: countering drugs, countering terrorism. We are cooperating and feel that the world needs the organization like the UN, Nursultan Nazarbayev said on September 21. Answering the question on partnership of Kazakhstan with the Organization, the President noted that he met with UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon 5 times in the last 1.5 years. September 21 Kazkahstan President made a speech to the leaders of UN member-states. Nazarbayev raised the issues of inter-religious intolerance, possibility of a financial crisis; a separate fragment of his speech covered nuclear countries.
