Over 100 calls about mine-studded buildings have been received by Kazakhstan Emergency Situations services since the beginning of 2011, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Bozhko. “There have been 112 of such cases this year. Some of the hotels and buildings were “mined” three times a week,” Minister said during online-conference on September 12. According to him, “explosives” were found by deminers only in some of these cases. Bozhko said that each of such cases costs the budget 150-200 thousand tenge ($1,000 - $1,300). “Such calls have became a problem. That is why all the services are currently being outfitted with equipment defining callers IDs. Legal responsibility for such false calls is being increased,” the Minister stressed.
