Kazakhstan cycling team Astana announced its squad for two Canadian Grand Prix races, to be held in Quebec and Montreal, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the official website of the team. Managers of the team count on Australian Simon Clarke. Kazakhstan cyclists Dmitriy Fofonov, Maxim Gourov, Yevgeniy Nepomnyachshiy and Sergey Renev will also take part at the racing, as well as Slovenian Gorazd Stangelj and Clarke’s countryman Allan Davis. Eight cyclists were initially scheduled to take part in the races, but Kazakhstan cyclist Assan Bazayev is no longer eligible to compete due to health problems. “He has been suffering back pain for several weeks. We decided not to risk his health, so, Bazayev won’t participate. The cyclist will take medicine tests in the nearest future,” team’s representatives said. Grand Prix races will be held in Quebec and Montreal on September 9 and 11 respectively. Part of the team is participating in Spanish marathon cycling race Vuelta now. Croatian Robert Kiserlovski is the best Astana representative at the race after 17 stages of general classification. He is 21st and 17 minutes 16 seconds behind the leader. Spanish Juan Jose Cobo is the leader of the race.
