Dry kumys production facility to be built in Kyzylorda

Dry kumys (mare's milk) will be produced in Kyzylorda, KazTAG reports citing the head of Kyzylorda oblast Entrepreneurship and Industry Department Serik Sermagambetov. “The project to produce dehydrated mare's milk in Kyzylorda is being implemented. Kyzylorda agricultural production co-operative is working on implementation of the project,” Sermagambetov said. According to him, the total cost of the project is 300 million tenge ($2.04 million). 30 jobs will be created with the launch of production. The company is initialy aiming to export its products and in particular deliever supplies of the dry milk to pharmaceutical and cosmetics groups of companies. “Several European countries, UAE, China and Korea are already showing interest in production and procurement of dry mare's milk,” Sermagambetov said. Interest in dry mare's milk produced in Kazakhstan is explained by “specifics of natural grass stand in the area and biological features of local horses,” he thinks. Dry kumys production plant was built in Semei recently. The project's cost is 200 million tenge ($1.4 million).
