Astana is hosting a meeting of Kazakhstan-American Annual Bilateral Consultations, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports. A two-day meeting is held in Kazakhstan Foreign Affairs Ministry. Representatives of Kazakh government bodies and their American counterparties take part in this meeting. Consultations are focused on five different areas: security, political issues, democracy and human rights, economy and social development, energy. US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake expressed hope for further deepening of cooperation with Kazakhstan. “I would like to thank the Kazakh government for supporting the international effort in Afghanistan. A big progress has been achieved during the past year, including our Air Transit Agreement,” said Robert Blake. As per the official information, the results of Astana meeting of Kazakhstan-American Annual Bilateral Consultations will be announced tomorrow, March 25. The agreement to start holding these Kazakh-US political consultations was reached last February by Kanat Saudabayev and Hillary Clinton.
