Nazarbayev and Medvedev to discuss joint response to emergencies in Astrakhan

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev will meet with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Astrakhan this September, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Bozhko as saying during his working trip to Atyrau. “These are traditional meetings on the issues of near-border cooperation in all spheres, including near-border trade, cultural relations and, of course, joint response to emergency situations,” the Minister said. According to Bozhko, the Presidents will discuss suggestions of Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry on cooperation. The Minister also said that an engineering base of Emergency Situations Ministry will be built in Atyrau oblast. “This will be a base for training and quarters of rescue personnel. Technical-economic documentation is already being prepared,” he added.
