Kazakhstan CEC made an exception for Aktobe oblast

Deadlines for nomination and registration of candidates to the Kazakhstan Senate have changed for Aktobe oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Secretary of Kazakhstan Central Election Commission Bakhyt Meldeshov. Registration of candidates from this region will finish on July 5 and campaigns will start on August 6. Registration of candidates in other oblasts will finish on July 29. “In case there are less than 2 candidates registered by the date of completion of the registration period, the CEC shall prolong the period of candidates nomination for not more than 20 days,” CEC Secretary explained. 55 candidates have been registered as of July 25, 2011. 14 of them have been nominated by Maslikhats (regional representative authorities) and 41 are self-nominated. 29 of registered candidates are members of Nur Otan party, 1 candidate is from Auyl party, 1 from Ak zhol, 1 from Rukhaniyat, 15 candidates are not members of any parties and 8 people have not specified their memberships.
