Every fifth Kazakhstan resident (21.8 percent) does not wish to declare the profits, Tengrinews.kz reports citing results of sociological research of the Institute of Political Solutions (IPS). People think that “it will increase bureaucracy and corruption and upkeep the shadow economy.” 26.5 percent of respondents, i.e. every fourth Kazakhstan citizen, called for declaration of profits, in particular, 55.3 percent of Astana residents are willing to declare their profits. They think, “it will improve the tax culture and eliminate shadow economy.” 37.3 percent of respondents were indifferent to this issue. The most neutral attitude was expressed in the South of Kazakhstan (46.3 percent of respondents). The IPS sociologists polled people in 14 oblast centers, plus Astana and Almaty in June 1-15, 2011. The total number of respondents made 2,302 people. Kazakhstan Government has approved the idea of declaration of profits starting from 2013 for countering shadow economy and decreasing corruption level in the state bodies. According to chairman of the Tax Commission of the Ministry of Finance Daulet Yergozhin, test declaration of profits will be implemented in 2012.
