Nursultan Nazarbayev was granted a decoration for development of the Islamic world, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President's official website. Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri presented the Golden ISESCO Shield to Nursultan Nazarbayev today, June 28. The award is given to Kazakhstan President “for outstanding contribution to enhancement of Islamic solidarity, development of the Islamic world and promotion of humanitarian values at the global level.” According to the President's press-service, Nursultan Nazarbayev held bilateral meetings with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu and President of the International Peace Institute Terje Rød-Larsen on the sidelines of the 38th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. İhsanoğlu said that currently the Organization is working to form its own human rights commission.
