Kazakhstan Journalists Union congratulated creative teams of newspapers, TV-channels and Internet-editions on their professional holiday and presented awards in different nominations, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakhstan Journalists Union and Kazinpress editorial-publishing group gave the Award of Amangeldy Akhmetalimov to Tengrinews.kz for establishment of the news service. “It is a pleasure to present you with this award,” chairman of the Journalists Union Seitkazy Matayev told Batyr Kazybayev, Director General of Alash Media Group holding, that runs Tengrinews.kz. “Usually we give it to newspapers and this is the first time a news website gets it. Internet is developing very quickly and already operates at the same level as traditional media.” “It is a big honor for us to receive the award of Kazakhstan Journalists Union. And this has been achieved in a quite short period of work, just eight months,” Batyr Kazybayev said thanking for the award. “Your success should inspire others. Thank you for developing Kazakhstan Internet. We will all be there one day,” Matayev joked. An award after Amangeldy Akhmetalimov is presented by Kazakhstan Journalists Union annually. It is founded in honor of deceased Director of Kazakh State Information Agency (KazTAG). Akhmetalimov headed the Agency for 10 years. KTK TV-channel and Karavan newspaper called an age mate of Kazakhstan's Independence, were awarded for contribution to development of journalism in independent Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan Journalists Union also awarded Kyrgyzstan President Roza Otunbayeva and Kazakhstan Ambassador to the United States Yerlan Idrissov for supporting the media. A professional holiday of media workers, Kazakhstan Journalism Day, is celebrated on the last Sunday of June.
