On his official visit to France, Prime Minister Karim Massimov met OECD's Secretary General Angel Gurría. According to the PM’s blog, at the meeting PM Massimov expressed Kazakhstan’s intention to accede into the OECD. Besides, the parties discussed prospects of long-term cooperation to attract foreign direct investments from OECD member states and obtain expert suggestions on the economic policy. The parties also dwelt on Kazakhstan’s involvement in the OECD Program to raise competitiveness of Central Asia. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international economic organization of 34 countries founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. It defines itself as a forum of countries committed to democracy and the market economy, providing a platform to compare policy experiences, seeking answers to common problems, identifying good practices, and co-ordinating domestic and international policies of its members. The OECD's headquarters are at the Château de la Muette in Paris, France.
