PoliTech student construction team from Karaganda left for Sochi to help construct the Olympics facilities, KazTAG reports. “There are 20 people in our team. All of them were selected through a very strict selection process. The labor season in Sochi will start on June 30 with a forum for all construction teams. It will last until August 25,” the team's manager Daulet Absatov said. According to Karaganda State Technical University, PoliTech is the second construction team in Kazakhstan that received an invitation to take part in construction of the facilities for the Winter Olympics-2014. “Last year a construction team from Gumilyov State University went to Sochi. The decision on attracting CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) students for construction of facilities was made in Moscow in 2009 at the forum of student construction teams timed to 50th anniversary of the Construction Teams Movement.” “Students from all former-Soviet countries will take part in construction of the Olympic facilities in Sochi. It is a great honor for us to represent out country in such a massive international project on the year of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence,” Absatov said. According to Absatov, Russian Railways Company is fuding the students' transportation, clothes, food and accommodation during the labor season. Politech construction team is one of the leaders of Kazakhstan's youth movement. In the last 10 years its students have been actively participating in construction of social and industrial facilities, residential buildings in Karaganda oblast. The group was involved in construction of Astana-Almaty highway, as well as implementation of such major projects as construction of West Europe-West China road and Western main power line network.
