Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for "a global solution" to terrorism in a phone call with Francois Hollande on Wednesday to express his solidarity after the Paris attacks, the French presidency said, AFP reports.

Netanyahu "wanted to convey a message of support and stressed that terrorism was a global problem requiring a global solution," the presidency said, five days after Paris was rocked by gun and suicide attacks that killed 129 people.

Netanyahu also confirmed he would still attend a key climate summit in Paris that opens later this month.

Israeli flags on public buildings flew at half-mast after the Paris attacks, and the Knesset parliament was among many landmarks around the world to be lit up in the red, white and blue of the French flag in a show of support.

Netanyahu on Saturday said he had instructed his country's security and intelligence agencies to assist France and other European nations as they investigate Friday night's attacks.
