Hungary's Sziget music festival, one of Europe's largest outdoor music bonanzas, finished on a high note with record crowds this year, organisers announced on Monday, AFP reports.

Bracing scorching temperatures, more than 430,000 people from 95 countries flocked to the week-long festival in Budapest between August 10 and 17, according to Sziget boss Karoly Gerendai.

The biggest crowd-pleasers were British pop icon Robbie Williams, Swedish DJ Avicii and Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon.

In total, some 500 acts performed across the 50-odd stages, including Limp Bizkit, Interpol, Infected Mushroom, The Maccabees, Hollywood Undead, Goran Bregovic, Enter Shikari and Erotic Market.

Set on an island of the Danube river in the heart of the Hungarian capital, the 22-year-old festival is one of the biggest in Europe.
