Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Kazakhstan on June 10, Tengrinews reports citing RIA Novosti.
According to the spokesperson for the Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric, Ban Ki-moon will visit Kazakhstan’s capital Astana to attend the V Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. As a part of his visit, the UN Secretary General will have a meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov and Kazakh Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
Kazakhstan is part of his Central Asian tour. On June 9, Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Tajikistan, where he will attend the opening ceremony of an international high-level conference on the results of the implementation of the International Decade for Campaign Water for Life.
Besides, Ban Ki-moon will meet with the country’s president Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe and will visit Lake Sarez.
After that, the UN Secretary General will make a visit to Uzbekistan to take part in the opening ceremony of an international conference on development of parliamentarism in Kyrgyzstan. Ban Ki-moon will also hold a meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s President Almazbek Atambayev and the country’s PM Temir Sariyev. He will then visit Osh city, where he will speak to the local officials and civil society.
On June 12, Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Uzbekistan, where he will meet with the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and the Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov.
The final destination of Ban Ki-moon’s Central Asia tour will be Turkmenistan, where he will be in talks with the country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. He will also meet with students of the International University of Humanities.
