The Rolling Stones announced a surprise last-minute gig at a small Hollywood concert venue Wednesday night, as they warm up for an upcoming North American tour, AFP reports.

"Sticky Fingers Los Angeles Club Show Tonight!" tweeted the veteran rockers only hours before the show, posting a link to a ticket sale page which rapidly announced that the gig was sold out.

The location of the top-secret show was not officially revealed, but social-media chatter quickly indicated it would be at the Fonda Theater, a 1,200-capacity venue known for hosting rock and indie concerts.

The famous British rockers were set to play every song from their "Sticky Fingers" album, which is being re-released in a deluxe edition including bonus tracks, their website said.

Tickets cost just $5, a fraction of the notoriously inflated prices charged for Rolling Stones stadium shows. The 15-city North America tour kicks off in San Diego on May 24.

Many were unlucky, even if they saw the Twitter announcement. "I waited on 4 different devices to get tickets to the Fonda & failed," wrote one fan. "I'm SO terribly sad."

"Hoped for Satisfaction, but I'm Shattered," added another.
