WBA Super, IBO and WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin has given the big drama show he promised against the American southpaw Willie Monroe Jr on May 16 at The Forum, Tengrinews reports.

The underdog Monroe did not survive against destructive punches of the Kazakhstani undefeated middleweight. Golovkin brought Monroe to the canvas two times in the second round. The American made a comeback in the following round landing more punches at Triple G. But the main middleweight Knockouter did not faze. In the sixth round, Golovkin knocked Monroe down for the third time. During the count out, the southpaw mouthed, “I’m done” to the referee Jack Reiss. By the sixth round, Golovkin dominated with more punches connected than his opponent.

Gennady GGG Golovkin celebrated his 33rd victory and 20th KO, beating Mike Tyson’s record of consecutive KOs.

“I’m very happy with my performance, I thought it was another big drama show. Willie’s a very tough fighter; I know I had him hurt. I did not want an easy fight or an easy round,” Golovkin said after the fight.

The Golovkin-Monroe show was attended by 12,372 people at The Forum, Inglewood. Tripe G earned $1.5 million for the fight against the American.

“They were hard shots. That boy can crack, but I have a big heart, you’re going to have to kill me,” Monroe said.

“I have a heart of a champion. My grandfather raised me to never give up. When you get knocked down, get back up, that’s the essence of life,” Monroe added.

Now, the victorious Golovkin challenges the WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo”Alvarez.
Will Triple G finally get his big fight and deliver yet another “drama show”? There is no telling what can stop Golovkin’s KO streak.
