According to Kazakhstanskaya Pravda an ammunition plant is to be built in Kazakhstan in 2015-2016, Tengrinews reports. The new ammunition factory will specialize in ammunition for pistols, submachine guns and rifles. The armament will meet NATO standards.
150 people will be employed at the munition plant. Bullets made of Balkhash brass will be used as raw material at the factory. This will help avoid use of alkaline solutions and toxic varnishes, which greatly reduces harmful effects on the environment.
In 2012 during the KADEX-2012 exhibition, it became known that the National Company “Kazakhstan Engineering” JSC had been negotiating with the Lugansk Cartridge Works to acquire a technology and equipment (rotary lines) for production of small arms ammunition in Kazakhstan. Even earlier, in 2011 Megapolis newspaper reported that the munitions plant's joint project with Lugansk Cartridge factory was estimated at $11million.
