Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov met with Chinese President Hu Jintao today, June 14, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Prime-Minister's Twitter. “Met with the President of China Hu Jintao,” tweeted Karim Massimov. “Joint implementation of projects for transportation and processing of hydrocarbons, in agriculture and in non-mining industries were discussed at the meeting. The parties also reviewed prospects of development of trade, investment, transit and transport, near-border cooperation and interaction in the use of trans-border water resources,” the Prime-Minister posted in his Facebook blog. June 13 Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev held talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao. Astana and Beijing officially announced advancement to a new level of strategic partnership. The signed declaration provides comprehensive cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. Besides, the parties agreed on currency swaps. Another agreement was made on supply of uranium pellets from Kazakhstan to China. Kazakhstan is due to start supplying uranium pellets to China in 2011. “Kazakhstan will be supplying fuel pellets to China as early as this year,” Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said after his talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao. The Kazakh President said that the two countires have good prospects for cooperation in atomic energy, particularly in joint production of nuclear fuel and construction of nuclear power stations. During Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to China of February 22, national atomic company KazAtomprom and Chinese State Nuclear Corporation signed a contract to supply 25 thousand tons of uranium from Kazakhstan to China. Hu Jintao arrived in Kazakhstan on June 12. The main purpose of his visit is the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) summit on June 15.
