Kazakhstan is not giving up on its nuclear energy development over Japan’s disaster

In spite of the crisis at the Japanese Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant caused by a massive earthquake and tsunami, Kazakhstan plans to continue its nuclear energy programs, Chairman of the Nuclear Energy Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies Timur Zhantikin is quoted by Interfax-Kazakhstan as saying. Zhantikin said that this is not just the matter of continuing the nuclear energy projects, but the prospects of Kazakhstan’s nuclear industry in general. Kazakhstan is taking nuclear security very seriously. Kazakhstan is a member of the IARA’s Incident and Emergency Center.
