Kazakhstan needs to limit power import from Kyrgyzstan

Kazakhstan needs to limit consumption of electricity imported from Kyrgyzstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vice-Minister of Industry and New Technologies as saying at today's conference call meeting of the Kazakh government. Speaking of preparation for this year's heating season, Albert Rau said: “It is necessary to limit consumption of electricity imported from Kyrgyzstan to the amount discussed with Kyrgyzstan government.” According to Albert Rau, the two governments ageed that Kazakhstan will import 1 billion kW/hour this year. However, as of today “we have already consumed 700 million kW/hour.” He said that taking into account the current consumption and the coming vegetation period Kazakhstan will need to import at least 550 million kW/hour from Kyrgyzstan. The Vice-Minister asked Karim Massimov to make KEGOC follow the initial agreement.
