The first candy and pastry festival called Candy Man 2011 will be held in Almaty on May 28-29, Tengrinews.kz reports citing a representative of the festival organizers Tatyana Malygina. The “sweet” fest will be held in the 28 Panfilov park on Gogol street. The festival’s slogan is Sweet and happy childhood!. “This festival will be timed to the Children Protection Day and the last day of school,” Tatyana Malygina said. According to Malygina, around 19 companies will present international and Kazakhstan brands of pastry and sweets. The goods will be sold at discounted prices. “There will be contests for children where kids will be able to take part and win gifts. There will also be contests for grown-ups, where they will be able to exchange cigarettes for candies,” she said. A special competition of poems about honey will be held for kids. The winner will receive a jar of honey and a big toy bear. Organizers are planning to hold the festival annually and also expand to other Kazakhstan cities, if they find partners.
