Karim Massimov speaks about advantages of the Customs Union

Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov talked about new opportunities of the Customs Union in an interview to Russia 24 TV Channel, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Starting from July 1, 2011 customs border inside the Customs Union will be removed completely. For Kazakhstan and Russia that means that the customs territory will be moved to an outside contour,” Massimov said in the interview summing up the results of the sittings of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Head of Government, EurAsEC inter-country council and The Supreme Body of the Customs Union, that were held in Minsk on May 19. As per Massimov, the Customs Union really works and has already yielded some results. "Ideally, when the countries, that are not members of the Customs Union, see opportunities and advantages of the member-states, they will want to join it,” the Prime-Minister said. Massimov also said that starting from January 1, 2012, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus will join in a new format called the Common Economic Space. “This will give new opportunities exceeding the ones of the Customs Union. We will be talking about unified rules of competition, unification of rates and many other issues,” the Head of Kazakh Government said. “We are working not only for the economy or to achieve a beautiful macroeconomic pictures, but we want to make real people and real companies feel the new opportunities and advantages,” Massimov said.
