Seismic training to be held in Almaty on May 24

Almaty Emergency Situations Department will organize seismic training on May 24, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. “Earthquake warning training for residents will be held in Almaty on May 24, 2011,” the Department's message said. The warning will start with the announcement “Warning!” and loud alarm signals accompanied by annoucements on TV and radio, and through loud-speakers located in the city streets. “We ask all the city residents to stay calm, not panic and take part in the training,” the message will say. On May 20 East Kazakhstan Department of Emergency Situations will also organize a training called Actions of authorities, emergency situations commissions of cities and regions, emergency rescue teams in case of an earthquake. The training will also involve turning on the alarms in the city. The Department is asking citizens to stay calm, this is only a training.
