Population Employment Program until 2020 will be launched in Karaganda, Pavlodar and East-Kazakhstan oblasts on July 1, 2011, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Minister of Labor and Social Protection Gulshara Abdykalikova as saying at the “government hour” in the Majilis (Lower Chamber of Parliament).
The plan is to create up to 200 thousand permanent jobs. The large-scale state project will cover self-employed and low-income citizens.
This set goal will be achieved through job training of people for popular professions, rendering them support in arrangement and starting of their own businesses in villages, as well as moving out of depressed regions. The list and assessment of these regions will be given by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection along with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Up to 1.5 million Kazakhstan citizens are expected to be employed with the help of the government-run program. It will also help decrease poverty level down to 6 percent, while unemployment level will make 5.5 percent, according to the government plans.
