Oil and gas January-April statistics

Crude oil production in January-April 2011 grew by 3% as compared to the like period of 2010, the Agency for Statistics reports. For the four months production output totaled 22.7 million tons, including 5.6 million tons in April alone. According to the Oil and Gas Ministry, oil and condensed gas production in 2010 made up almost 80 million tons, 4.2% up against 2009. Natural gas production output in January – April mounted by 7.9% as compared to the like period of 2010. The figure for the period reached 6.578 billion cubic meters. Coal production for the period by 8.1% against the like period of 2010, reaching 39.535 million tons. In 2010 the coal production figure made up 103.5 million tons. Kazakhstan is ranked 8th in terms of coal reserves. The country holds 4% of global coal reserves. Kazakhstan plans to produce 134 million tons by 2015, bringing the figure up to 151 million tons by 2020.
