Members of Bolashak movement gathered near the US Consulate General in Almaty. They passed a letter to the US president Barack Obama calling for a fair investigation on the death of Karaganda citizen Kirill Denyakin, Tengrinews.kz reports. The application of Bolashak activists is made in Kazakh and Russian languages. It was accepted and registered by the Consulate representative. “We are not a banana republic, we live in the independent Kazakhstan. We want every Kazakhstan citizen to know that they will be protected and there are people who will stand up for them, no matter where they are,” Bolashak leader Dauren Babamuratov said. “A huge work has been done over the Internet: Kazakhstan citizens have sent letters to US authorities. However, there are no answers yet. So we had to gather at the US Consulate.” Bolashak members' letter calls for bringing the policeman who shot Denyakin to justice. The policeman shot 11 bullets into unarmed Kirill Denyakin for banging on the door. His name is still kept secret and he is still not jailed. “America listens to the opinion of the civil society. I am sure that after the Bolashak letter the policeman will be punished to the fullest extent of American law,” said the movement leader. 26-year-old Karaganda citizen Kirill Denyakin was shot by policeman in Portsmouth on April 23. Kazakhstan Foreign Affairs Ministry sent a protest note to USA in relation to this incident.
