Scat airline has received a claim over missing belongings of one of the victims of the CRJ-200 plane crash near Almaty, the company’s PR-manager Viktoriya Ulyanova told Tengrinews.kz. “The company has received one claim, it is currently being reviewed in the legal department. Ruslan Yeskendirov, one of the victim’s brother, filed a claim that his brother was allegedly carried a bag with 8 million tenge ($53 thousand) in cash, a phone, personal belongings and keys. We are investigating into the claim. The letter was received only yesterday. This seems natural that the things are mission, as a wreckage is all that’s left from the plane and the idea that any belongings can be found sounds absurd,” Ulyanova said. She added that works were still ongoing at the accident site. The company will be returning the belongings of the victims to their families as soon as they are found. Ulyanova denied that there were any looters at the accident site. The Chief Transport Prosecutor’s office could not comment this information. Scat’s Bombardier aircraft made in 2000 crashed 7km from Almaty airport on January 29. The crash claimed lives of 5 crew members and 16 passengers, including 1 child. The board recorder has been found and sent to Moscow for decoding that will take 15 days.
