Airbus has delivered the first two military cargo planes CASAC-295 to Kazakhstan Defense Ministry, Flightglobal reports. "Both aircraft will be used to support transport missions throughout the nation's vast territory," Airbus states. The planes were delivered two months ahead of schedule. Kazakhstan has to receive the total of eight C-295 planes that Kazakhstan Defense Ministry purchased in February 2012. The cost of the deal was not unveiled. An average cost of one C-295 at the global market is around $40 million. C-295 is a multi-functional military cargo plane with the flying range of 5,500km and the cargo capacity of 9 tons or 73 militarymen. It can be re-equipped into a medical plane for transportation of 41 injured persons. C-295s are used by Air Defense Forces in 12 countries. The new planes of Kazakhstan Air Defense Forces are called to replace outdated An-26s. According to Airbus, Kazakhstan plans to use the aircrafts for transportation of militarymen and armament to the country's remote regions.
