Kazakhstan will terminate membership in the interstate organizations if they threaten its independence, KazTAG reports citing Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev. “The country’s political sovereignty is out of question. Should any action that threatens our independence take place, we will terminate our membership in such organization,” Nazarbayev said awarding presidential and state grants to outstanding persons in literature and arts in his Almaty residence on January 9. He noted that Kazakhstan economy needs economic integration. “As for Kazakhstan in the Eurasian integration, this is our principal choice. I think that we are right in moving in this direction. Economic integration is the goal of the whole world in the 21st century. None of the countries, even the greatest ones, can develop without being having its economy integrated. Our fast-growing economy requires new markets, that’s why we strive for economic integration, not a political one,” President said.
