Kazakhstan and Russia to jointly use Bugristoye customs facility

Bugrinskoye vehicle crossing point located in Chelyabinsk oblast (Russia) may be used for joint control by Kazakhstan and Russian border guards, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Rosgranitsa (Federal Agency for Development of State Border Facilities of the Russian Federation). The decision was made during an interstate meeting on preparation for customs control transfer from internal to exnternal borders of the Customs Union. The meeting was attended by representatives of Rosgranstroi (state company supervising construction and exploitation of Rosgranitsa facilities), Border Guard Services of Chelyabinsk, Kurgansk and Tyumen oblasts and customs departments. Rosgranitsa representatives said that joint control will improve border control time and raise its effectiveness. It was also proposed to transfer some of the required equipment, such as computers and communication tools from Kazakh customs clearance points to Russian customs officers. Customs control will be officially transferred from internal to external borders of the Customs Union on July 1, 2011.
