Construction of a section of Almaty-Taraz road bypassing Kyrgyzstan border has been finished in Zhambyl oblast recently, Tengrinews.kz reports, reffering to the blog of Askar Zhumagaliyev, Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan. “Yesterday we have finished construction of the last 36 kilometers of concrete road at the section called By-pass of Kyrgyzstan in Zhambyl oblast,” the Minister wrote in his blog. Zhumagaliyev added that the section of Almaty-Taraz-Shymkent road in Kaynar-Oytal of Zhambyl oblast has been closed since summer 2010 because this section passed through the territory of Kyrgyzstan. “People had to go via Shu when the road was closed and they had to drive additional 57 kilometers. It was expected that a new road of the same length will be constructed around the border of the neighboring country as part of the reconstruction project that was developed out last year,” Kazakhstan Minister of Transport and Communications said. It is expected that the road will be opened by December 16.
