Kazakhstan will open a national anti-doping organization, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing the press-service of the Directorate of Staff National Teams and Sport Reserves. According to the press-service, the meeting of Central Asian Regional Anti-Doping Organization (CARADO) was held in Almaty under the aegis of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Deputy chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Sport and Physical Culture Yelsiyar Kanagatov said at the meeting that the government “has reviewed and approved creation of the national anti-doping organization that will coordinate and perform anti-doping work in Kazakhstan”. It is planned to openit in the beginning of 2013. Besides, participants of the meeting supported the suggestion to move CARADO headquarters from Tashkent to Almaty. “Director of WADA regional office in Asia Kazuhiro Hayashi stressed that Kazakhstan meets all the requirenments for successful promotion of the anti-doping program in Asian region. First of all, this is a successful experience of anti-doping program during 7th winter Asian Games in Astana and Almaty, a qualified team of doping-control inspectors, availability of WADA-accredited anti-doping laboratory and, what is especially important, Kazakhstan government’s willingness to support doping-free sport and the desire to host the regional organization’s office,” the message states. The Central Asian regional Anti-Doping Organization was established in 2006 by national Olympic commissions and representatives of governments of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and supported by the World Anti-Doping Agency and Asian Olympic Council. It is responsible for rendering support and coordinating the battle against use of doping in sports.
