The number of juvenile suicides has increased in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. The issue was discussed at the meeting of coordination council of Astana law-enforcement authorities. “One attempt out of 12 was lethal in 2009, 14 attempts out of 31 were lethal in 2010,” said the Prosecutor of Astana First Prosecution Office Amantai Bazheyev. 5 suicide attempts have been registered since the beginning of 2011. One kid was not rescued. Prosecutors say that the work of the Commission on Juvenile Affairs and protection of their rights does not comply with the grave reality. Despite of the increase in the number of suicides, their cause of the suicides are still not being studied and discussed by the Commission. The authorities raised an issue of creating a center for adaptation and rehabilitation of juveniles. By Maksim Popov
