Kazakhstan singer and participant of Superstar.kz project Alisher Karimov won the 3rd place in the international contest of young pop singers Yerevan Calls held in Armenia on October 6-14, Tengrinews.kz reports. According to the contest rules, each participant has to perform three songs: a world’s hit, a hit of his/her country and a song in the Armenian language. Karimov selected the world-famous hit In Memory of Caruso, Kazakh song Inkarim-Ai written by Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov and the song of Armenian singer Sona Shahgeldyan Harsi Par. A singer from Israel won the Grand-prix of the contest, the first place was awarded to a Ukrainian and the second one to a Georgian. “After the first two days of contest Alisher was likely to get the Grand-prix, however, the jury chairman had a right to add scores to participants, which he did,” Karimov’s official representative Dinora Yeshtayeva said. The winner of the Grand-prix received $10 thousand, the 1st prize brought its winner $5 thousand, the 2nd winner received $3 thousand and the 3rd place winner was awarded with $2 thousand. Alisher Karimov earlier took part in the 20th international contest of pop singers Vitebsk-2011, where he won the 3rd prize. By Aizhan Tugelbayeva
