Kazakhstan and Turkey to build night vision equipment factory in Astana

Kazakhstan and Turkey a mulling a joint venture to produce night vision equipment for military purposes, Tengrinews.kz reports.citing Tarik Ziya Kaboglu, General Director of Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering (KAE), as saying during Kazakhstan-Turkish Business Forum in Istanbul. “The plant will produce thermal scopes and other night vision devices to equip the Kazakhstan Army for night time operations. We expect to sell 1 billion dollars worth of equipment in 10 years. $300 million worth of equipment will be consumed by the Kazakhstan market, $200 million by Turkish market and CIS countries market will consume $500 million,” Kaboglu said. Speaking about Turkish investments to Kazakhstan General Secretary of KATIAD (Kazakhstan-Turkish Businessmen Association) Omer Yalcinkaya said: “Turkey may not be the leader by investments to Kazakhstan, but it is the most active country that is investing in Kazakhstan at present. Kazakhstan market is very attractive for us, because the mentality of the Kazakhstan people is very close to our own. We have much in common.
