Terrorism in Kazakhstan originates from penitentiary facilities, Interfax – Kazakhstan reports, citing President’s Advisor on Political Issues Mr. Ermukhamet Ertysbayev.
“Wahhabis and shakhids have penetrated into the penitentiary system to promote their ideas. Prison population can be likened to combustibles easy to sparkle into acts of terror. After being released some indoctrinated people got together in gangs, got hold of firearams and pinpointedly attacked law enforcement officials”, he said on Sunday in a Slugi Naroda (Servants of the People) program on a local KTK TV channel.
Mr. Ertysbayev is sure there are no ideology foundations for terrorism in Kazakhstan. “There is no ideology-fed organized terrorism (…) terrorism in its classic form always has a certain ideology, certain political requirements. All these are not inherent in Kazakhstan”, he said.
