Photo-reports website Vox Populi has told about Kazakhstan famous ballet dancer Leila Alpiyeva who lives in Hong Kong and gives private ballet lessons in her own school. Kazakhstan’s honored artist prima ballerina of Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater moved to Hong Kong in 2011. Before that she used to live in Great Britain with her British husband Martin. Her second son Marat was born in Great Britain. Alpiyeva’s first son Madi from her first marriage is 19 year old. The dancer’s husband currently works in JP Morgan. “I felt myself 100 percent in-demand in Hong Kong straight away. There is a huge interest to ballet here. It was like a breath of fresh air after England. I worked in a big ballet studio for 2 thousand students in England. Everyone studies under English system here as well. It is radically different from the Soviet school and cannot be compared to it. Our dancers are much more advanced. That’s why I was thinking about a private school for a long time,” Alpiyeva said. Soon after moving to Hong Kong, the dancer opened her own Russian Ballet School. Currently she has around 50 students. “My students are mainly children, Chinese. There are many foreigners as well. There are several Russian girls. There could have been more of them, but there is still a little mistrust among the parents. They wonder how a woman with Asian face can teach Russian classic ballet?” Alpiyeva explained. Considering the interest of local people to Russian ballet, the dancer is going to expand her school. She plans to invited professionals from Kazakhstan to Hong Kong. According to Alpiyeva, she is already dealing with the paperwork for a work visa for one of Kazakhstan dancers. “I hope that Martin will leave his work in the bank and will help me in my business in future. I think that ballet can financially support me and my family,” the ballet dancer said.
