Famous Kazakhstan physicist Adilet Imambekov has died in Khan Tengri mountains on the border of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Alpinist.kz reports. “There is sad news. Adilet Imambekov died yesterday at the peak of Khan Tengri,” the website reported on July 19. The circumstances surrounding the death of the young and promising scientist are unclear yet. “It is known that he was found in his tent at the height of 5300 meters,” the website reads. Adilet’s body has been taken down from the glacier by means of a helicopter and transported to Almaty. Those who wished to say final goodbyes to the scientist had a chance to do so on July 19, at 33-28 Taugul Microregion. Adilet Imambekov has achieved a lot in his thirty years. He graduated from a magnet school under Moscow State University with a gold medal for academic excellence (on top of the class). He won gold in the International Physics Olympiad in Reykjavik in 1998. He graduated with honors from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Then he was enrolled at Harvard University. Adilet became the first Kazakhstan citizen who earned a PhD degree from Harvard. He has been working in Yale University.
