President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that the European Union has to consider the decision of Kazakhstan and Belarus to adopt the conditions of Russia’s entrance into WTO when deciding on these countries’ membership in the World Trade Organization, RIA Novosti writes.
“As for the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space and our further rapprochement processes with the European Union, we don’t see any contradictions here as I have already said today.
"First of all, this is because the rules of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space are utterly and completely coherent (with the WTO), I would like to stress this, the documents that we have prepared and signed are utterly and completely based on the principles of the World Trade Organization. Moreover, our partners, both Kazakhstan and Belarus, have made an unprecedented decision by agreeing to adopt the terms and conditions of Russia’s entrance into the WTO,” the President said at the press-conference on the results of Russia-EU summit.
Putin called the European Union to consider this factor. “They have done it and I consider it a courageous and brave step made by the political management of the two countries. I believe that the European Union also has to consider it and render all possible support when these countries enter the World Trade Organization,” Putin said.
