Tengrinews.kz – The situation in the area of responsibility for the UN mission in the Golan Heights, where Kazakh peacekeepers are stationed, is assessed as stable despite ongoing tensions, according to a statement from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defense.
The ministry reported that the peacekeeping contingent is fulfilling its duties in accordance with the UN mandate. Authorized representatives of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) are in constant communication with officials from Syria and Israel to ensure compliance with agreements between the two sides.
"All necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the peacekeepers," the Ministry of Defense stated.
The ministry added that it is closely monitoring the situation and remains in continuous contact with Kazakh military personnel participating in the mission.
In the event of a critical escalation, the issue of evacuating the mission will be considered by UN leadership based on proposals from field command.
Kazakh peacekeepers have been participating in the Golan Heights mission since 2018, contributing to efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
