Israel declares state of emergency

Tengrinews.kz - Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has announced a state of emergency in the country, according to the Israeli portal Ynet News.

It is reported that the "special situation" has been declared for 48 hours, unless it is extended by the members of the cabinet.

The reason for this is the Israeli military's pre-emptive strikes on targets belonging to the Shiite movement Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The "special situation," as the publication reports, is a legal term used during emergencies. This regime gives authorities more power over the civilian population to optimize efforts in defending the country.
