On September 17, multiple pagers exploded across Lebanon. Lebanon's National News Agency reported that the pagers detonated in the southern suburbs of Beirut and other areas through high-tech means.

Local media indicated that the pagers were used for secure communications by members of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah. Walkie-talkies may also have been affected by remote detonation.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, as cited by IRNA, the death toll from the pager explosions has risen to 11, with more than 4,000 injured, over 400 of whom are in critical condition. Among the deceased was a 10-year-old girl.
