Tengrinews.kz — People with Group I disabilities no longer need to visit railway ticket offices to book a ticket for a specialized seat. This can now be done online.

According to the press service of the Main Transport Prosecutor’s Office, this option was previously unavailable. Following a prosecutorial supervision act, the Ministry of Transport improved the system, ensuring automatic identification of passengers with disabilities.

“Since June 2026, the online ticket booking service for specialized seats has been launched on socially significant passenger trains,” the statement said.

This became possible thanks to the integration of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy’s electronic ticketing system with the information system of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

Now, when purchasing a ticket, the system automatically confirms the passenger’s status, eliminating the need to visit a ticket office in person to book special seats.

According to the Main Transport Prosecutor’s Office, nearly 90,000 people with Group I disabilities will be able to use the new service.

The agency noted that the innovation is aimed at improving the accessibility of railway transport and creating more comfortable conditions for passengers with special needs.
